About

IMG_2293Hi! My name is Cara, and I’m the gal behind the scenes here at Fit Fam & a Little Ham. A few fun facts to start things off:

∗ I’m 31 years old, and a happily married military spouse (hubs is Navy)
∗ I met said hubs on Match.com (after many, many, many failed matching attempts)
∗ I have a ridiculously adorable and goofy baby girl who was born on May 11, 2017, and she is the driving force behind this blog (more on that to come)
∗ I was born and raised in the LA area of Southern California, and while I loved it then, the only thing I miss about it now are my incredible friends and family that are still there
∗ I’m a fitness enthusiast, have been for the better part of a decade and I can’t imagine my life without it
∗ I am an amateur musician (loooove to sing!) and major foodie
∗ I have two catmonsters named Mr. Tiny Cat and Madame Meow, and one day we plan to add a pug and a rescue pupper to the mix
∗ I’m a marketing major by education and professional background, but I’ve also done wedding coordination, volunteering for a Southern California women’s drug and alcohol recovery home (shout out to House of Hope!), community outreach, and loads of food service work (including a stint at a Hungarian Bakery where I got to sing show tunes every first Thursday of the month)
∗ That’s a port-wine stain birthmark over my left eye, in case you were curious. It extends all the way over the left side of my head, leaving people to constantly ask if my scalp got sunburned
∗ I have eight tattoos from shoulder to ankle, and will likely get more someday

So now that we’ve become better acquainted, let me tell you why I’m here, sharing my life with the world. Y’know that little girl I mentioned above? Well her name is Maisie, and the experience of conceiving, carrying, and delivering her turned my whole world completely upside-down. I walked away from it all not recognizing my body, my role as a woman, my day-to-day life, my passions, my abilities…and I felt (and still sometimes feel) completely lost. I knew there had to be more women like me who just needed to know they weren’t alone, so I figured, “What better place to share my journey than online?”

If you want to hear tales of motherhood, fitness, re-self discovery, triumphs, heartaches, happiness, absurdity, humor, and above all, candid truth, then you have come to the right place. Settle in and stay a while, I’ll do my best to keep you entertained!

xo
